I Like the Land

I like the land, but not the shakes
not the aftershocks, tremors nor the quakes
I like the threat mixed with
the cherry blossom mentality
Or more precisely, here today
And too quickly, it will be time -
Time to fade away.

I like the land, but not the shakes
Where everything could come crashing down in just seconds
Life is like that
Just one quick wrong turn
At any moment a lurking accident awaits.

I like the land
But not the shakes
A constant reminder
no rhyme or reason for why things happen
Any where, Any time, this way.
People running about
Daily lives -
Made to work
Dressed pretty much all the same
The streets,
the buildings,
and the trains

And when the sun retreats
city light flashes bright
Kirin, Asahi, Suntory, Sapporo
Man's best friends for the night
mixed conversation with temporary friends
like cherry blossoms
they fade away someday.

I find the most astounding here
how tiny things matter so much
At the same time, Baji wa yumé
All things are merely dreams
Yes, I love this land....but not the shakes

Yay

mixed conversation with temporary friends - I get that, but are all friends not temporary? Or do you refer to those temporary friends who last a night of drinking?

Everything is temporary.
